Meet the team
The Central Jersey Compliance Company is owned and operated by both career and volunteer firefighters. The business was founded with the goal of creating a a system to aid in the administration of public safety entities throughout the State of New Jersey.

Alan South
With over twenty years in the fire service, Alan currently serves as a career Fire Captain proceeding his 16 years as Career Fire Lieutenant. In addition to his current role at Millstone Township Fire District, Alan is the Training Officer overseeing the training needs of up to 50 career and volunteer personnel.
In his volunteer fire service career, Alan held positions up to and including Chief of Department and currently holds the title of Deputy Chief of Operations, overseeing fire and emergency medical services in Pemberton Township.

Andrew Hagenberg
Andrew entered public safety in 2010 and has held a number of different positions throughout his career. Currently, Andrew is a Career Firefighter in Millstone Township proud to serve as the Vice-President of his union's IAFF local.
Prior to his current role, Andrew worked as a Supervisor of Communications with the Rutgers University Police Department where his responsibilities included training and personnel record management. Additionally, Andrew has held many ranks within the Englishtown Volunteer Fire Department most recently as Deputy Fire Chief and Training Officer. He is also a Volunteer Firefighter/EMT at Sea Bright Fire Rescue.

Franklin Doremus
Franklin comes from a first responder family, with his father serving as, now retired, police officer and his mother helping her community as a volunteer EMT. Franklin currently serves as a Career Firefighter with the Neptune Township Fire District, where he began his career as a volunteer. In addition to his roll with Neptune Township, Franklin is a volunteer with the Neptune City Fire Department, most recently serving as captain.
Franklin brings a level of hazardous materials expertise to our team, through his experience as a Hazardous Material Technician.

Nicholas Krauss
Nicholas brings a wide array of Fire and EMS experience to the CJCC team. Nicks public safety career started as a volunteer with both the Freehold Borough Fire Department, Freehold Emergency Medical Services and the Englishtown Fire Department.
Prior to his appointment as a Firefighter with Millstone Township Fire District, Nick served as a career Firefighter with the Neptune Township Fire District. Based on his love for public safety, Nick decided to enroll in the New Jersey City Universities Fire Science Program, where he obtained a B.S in Fire Science. Nick also holds an associates degree from Brookdale Community College, majoring in Homeland Security and Emergency Management.

Senior Instructor
Chris Barkalow
Chris started in the volunteer fire service in 1998 and then began his career in 2004 with the Asbury Park Fire Department. In 2011 Chris was promoted to Captain and assigned to Truck 1.
In 2021 he was promoted to Battalion Chief and is currently assigned as the Chief of Special Operations. He also serves as a Rescue Specialist with NJ Task Force 1. Chris is a NJ Level 2 Instructor and currently teaches at the Monmouth County Fire Academy. He also serves as the Director of Fire Services and Fire Marshal for the Manasquan Fire District #1.

Anthony Chrepta
Anthony boasts a formidable 19-year tenure as a career firefighter, currently serving with the Monroe Township Fire Department in Middlesex County, NJ. Prior to his role in Monroe Township, Chrepta served with distinction in several other fire departments, including Fort Monmouth, Neptune Township, and West Windsor.
Throughout his career, Chrepta has been deeply involved in the training and education of fellow firefighters, accumulating 12 years of experience as a fire service instructor. Additionally, he has demonstrated his expertise in specialized rescue operations, serving as a Rescue Specialist for NJ-TF1 (New Jersey Task Force 1) for the past decade. His dedication to emergency response extends to his role as a published author for FireRescue1.com, a reputable online platform within the firefighting community.

Dave Philips
Dave started in the emergency services in 1999 obtaining his emergency medical technician. He served in volunteer and paid ems agencies. Shortly thereafter he began in the volunteer fire service in 2000 and continues to this day. In 2013 he was hired by the City of Long Branch Fire Department as a firefighter assigned to tour 3. Dave has remained on tour 3 to this day. Prior to starting in the fire department. Dave started in 2000 working for the Long Branch Police in various capacities. Most recently as a class 2 special police officer and communications operator and terminal agency coordinator. Dave also works for the Monmouth County Fire Academy as an instructor. He also teaches at Safe-t ems training based in Marlboro. Working basic EMT classes and recertification classes as well.
Dave is in the final stages of obtaining his EMT instructor certification. He currently is a NJ fire instructor 2, fire officer 2, CPR instructor, EMR instructor, methods of instruction PTC certification, Blood Control Instructor, Hazardous Materials Technician.

Charles "Chad" Murphy
Chad began in the fire service in 2001 with the Sea Bright Fire Rescue where he rose through the ranks becoming Chief of Department in 2011.
Throughout his tenure as Chief, he progressed the department by implementing modern day policies and procedures and has established a well structured volunteer program. He is part of the Fire Engineering FDIC Instructing Cadre and was featured on multiple Fire Engineering Training Minutes.

Matthew O'Brien
Matt O'Brien is a Career Firefighter serving with the Monroe Township Fire District #2 in Middlesex County, NJ. In his role, he cross-staffs both a Tower Ladder and Squad Company in a growing suburban area of Central New Jersey. Additionally, Matt holds the position of Deputy Fire Chief with the Englishtown Volunteer Fire Department, where he plays a pivotal role in the day-to-day operations of the department.
Matt maintains certifications as a Rope Rescue Technician, Motor Vehicle Extrication Technician, and Confined Space Rescue Technician. He also holds licenses as a Fire Inspector, Fire Officer II, and Level 2 Fire Instructor. Furthermore, Matt has expanded his expertise by attending the Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute for reciprocity and holds an Associate's Degree in Computer Science.

Jason Kole
Jason Kole is a seasoned professional with a background in public safety. Jason recently joined our team of instructors, bringing experience in firefighting, technical rescue, and communications.
In his time off as a Communications Manager with the Rutgers University Police Department, Jason serves as a Lieutenant with the Englishtown Fire Department and a Communications Specialist with New Jersey Task Force One.
Jason will aid our team in instructing annual refreshers, technical rescue, and communications training. Although Jay is a new addition to our team of instructors, he's worked with the CJCC many times, aiding our Consulting and Compliance clients with communications studies.
